Now this is a campground! Beautiful views of the lake and surrounding forestry. Everything seems to be well kept, and the individual sites are great! Prices are good too. I will continue to camp here for years to come!

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. The cabin was nice but a little expensive for what you got, however it wasn't the cabin that caused problems but rather the people running the place. Due to heavy rain we were late arriving the first night. Since it was after hours we contacted the camp host and were let into our cabin for the night but were told we would need to go to the gate in the morning to get the key. We arrived a little after 9 am and found a long line of people waiting for the gate person to arrive. We asked when they this person usually arrived and were told around 9. So we waited because we needed the key the person didn't arrive at the gate until after 10 am! Later we asked some people when the camp store opened and it turns out a lady who worked at the store was present in the group. She replied, "Around 10, we lost the sign with the store hours" she laughed, "but tomorrow I feel like being there at 10.

We have stayed at a lot of campgrounds but this was by far the nicest. Large clean sites, very clean bathhouses, beautiful beach and scenery that is gorgeous. Only suggestion is to make sure and bring everything you might need because you will drive forever to find a store! Very remote!

Beautiful, the while site is on a peninsula in the lake. Sandy beach, gravel beach an boat dock.

I wasn't sure I wanted to write this review because I love our state parks. I drove three hours to meet my brother back in June at this campground. We were excited to see each other and enjoy a much needed break. We stayed in the small cabins available in the campground. We spent the first night, and were preparing to take advantage of the lake the next day when my sister n law found a bug crawling on her hand. Upon further inspection, we realized it was a bed bug. We inspected the cabin and found them in the beds, window seal areas, and even on the floor. This was during the day, so I can't imagine how many would have been out at night! We gathered them in a bag and notified the front gate. We were reimbursed for our stay. I was disappointed but not too angry. A couple of days later, I had bites on my arms, hands, and neck. I was in misery! I missed a day of work, and In addition, I threw away all of my camping supplies because I was paranoid of bringing anything home. That was when I started to get angry. I notified the park service two times about this inconvenience, hoping for some type of reimbursement, and no one bothered to even contact me. I find it hard to believe this was the first complaint, especially since the cabins now require guests to bring their own mattresses. I was told the reason for that was "pet allergies." I will return to Zilpo but only in my own travel trailer. Please, please, check your cabin.
